Boat Container Services

This is where we “sail” by our competitors!  Not only do we offer great rates for transporting containers, but if you look in our gallery you can see first-hand how we are able to say this with confidence.  We pride ourselves in what we have been able to accomplish.  We have made dreams come true for many of our clients who thought it was just too expensive to ship a boat, until we introduced our way of “making anywhere possible”.

We start by evaluating the boat and its size.  We decide what type of container is needed (20’ Standard, 40’ Standard or 40’ High Cube).  We take the door dimensions of a 40’HC container (39’5” L x 7’8” Door Width x 8’6” Door Height) by the 57 years of combined experience and we begin the process of safely packing your boat.  Boats with a width of less than 7’8” can be easily placed in the container and securely braced down on the trailer.  If the trailer is greater than 7’8” the axles and wheels are easily removed and safely packed along with the boat.

Boats with a width larger than 7’8” are disassembled and safely turned on their sides with all fluids removed and then a custom cradle is constructed.  Once we feel the boat is safe and in the proper position we then proceed to move it into the container.  We package all loose items including windshields, out drives, outboards, and trailers safely.  Photo instructions burned to a CD for reassembly are offered upon request.

Container options-

  • 20’ Standard- A great choice if your boat is less than 19’ (5.78m) and has a trailer that can be fully disassembled.
  • 40’ Standard- Good for packing multiple boats that do not require being turned on their side and with a beam of less than 7’8” (2.35m).
  • 40’ High Cube or HC- Our personal favorite at Marine Point. Whether multiple boats or just one boat.  We can take a boat with a beam of 8’6” (2.57m) or less and turn it on its side making for more than enough room of packing space.  We can also stack boats thus enable a 3-4 boat shipment in one container.  Talk about saving money.
  • 40’ Flat Rack or FR- This a great alternative to taking a large boat to many destinations all over the world.  They are sometimes hard to find but when available they can make for a “go anywhere shipment” and are very affordable compared to standard Ro/Ro or Lo/Lo shipping.

Cradle options-

  • Trailer cradle- We use this system when a boat attached to its trailer will slide into the container with the wheels and axles removed.
  • Boat Cradle- We use this type of cradle when it is required that the boat be turned on its side in order to obtain the proper clearance for fitting the boat into a container.
